A tipper, also known as a dump truck, is a truck used for carrying material (such as sand, gravel, stone or dirt) used for construction.

A type dump truck equips a hydraulically operated containers or open-box used to dump their contents from rear. A standard tipper is a truck chassis with a dump body mounted to the frame. The bed is raised by a hydraulic ram mounted under the front of the dumper body between the frames, and the bed back in hinged at the back to the truck.

Tippers have various types of equipment to support different types of loads. Larger dump trucks can carry large amounts from place to place. They are commonly used as freightliner trucks to deliver the materials requested. Articulated dump trucks are tippers which have permanent hinges between the cab and the dump bed. The transfer dump trucks, whose dump boxes can be removed from the cab itself, have no hinge.
